11:49 pm - A little ecouragement....

iwerewolf
It's been ages since anyone's posted here.  Thought I'd post this little bit of encouragement.

Yesterday morning at work while I sat around with my carriers waiting on the truck we were talking about our weights, and all.  It was me, 2 other laides and a guy.  I forgot what was said but the guy said something about him weighing more than me.  I turned to him (a skinny little thing) and said I weigh more than you, after sizing him up quickly.  He said he didn't think so and I said I weigh over 180.  He was shocked.

We were talking about being fat and all and joked about the fat redistributing.  it was pretty funny.

Here's the thing, before getting this job last year I weighed 10 punds less than I do now.  It's been discouraging seeing my weight go up those rare times I hop on the scale.  It finally dawned on me that though my weight has gone up, my clothes size hasn't.

So the 10 pounds I put on?  A good chunk of that, if not all of it, is muscle.  :)

It's not surprising when you think about all I do on Thursdays.  When I run the dock (work for a newspaper btw) I am pulling/pushing cages, skids, etc around.  I'm moving bundles of papers from point a to b.  When I have downed routes, I have to stack my papers up in my car then bag them all and pitch them as I drive.  Stacking carriers out is another thing I do.

Bascially I do a lot of physical work and it's no surprise that I come home tired.  Since I only work like this once a week it takes longer for the waistline and everything else to trim down.  I was doing good with my bellydance workout video a few months ago, but my brother's wedding took over my life.  we beaded 70+ scarves for the wedding and it got to the point where I stopped working out when I came home from work because I needed to eat fast and then bead.

Good thing I had been doing the workouts though.  I spent the night on the dance floor and those moves came in handy.  well, the muscles they worked that is.  I did one dance that I only lasted the entire song because of the workout video.  It was all leg muscles.

gotta love the workout you get with middle eastern dancing.  :)

6:33 pm - CItrus-Almond Face and Neck Cleasner/Mask

iwerewolf
I was just looking to see if I could find a website for the bellydance twins, Neena and Veena, whose workout I do (just made it past the 11 minute mark and lasted just under 14 minutes WOO!).  I'm so glad I found it.  While surfing I saw this recipe and thought I'd share. Figured you gals wouldn't mind me posting it here since we're all in it for the win.  ;P

Citrus-Almond Face and Neck Cleanser/Mask
Packed with nourishing and moisturizing ingredients, this citrusy-fresh cleanser works well on normal to dry skin.

Ingredients:
1 kiwi fruit
1 1/2 tablespoons plain yogurt: preferably goat milk
1 tablespoon lime juice
1 tsp apricot oil (or just almond oil, if you can't find this)
1 tsp almond oil
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon finely ground almonds
3-5 drops of citrus essential oil

Directions:
Use a food processor to purée all ingredients until thick and cream like. Add essential oil and stir to mix. To apply, massage gently over neck, face and the top of your breasts to cleanse. Rinse well. Makes one application.

10:54 am - I need big time help!!!

anomalous_girl
Ok, guys, I need your help big time!!! Jeremy and I booked our honeymoon vacation last night. We are going on a cruise to Alaska in two months!! I am obviously not going to be as thin as I wanted to be to go on a cruise, but I would be happy to lose 20-30 pounds. Is this doable? I have had a really hard time getting motivated in the last couple weeks. I haven’t been exercising at all, and I haven’t been eating that great either. Help!! I am going to need some extra support and any tips anyone has. I am up for anything at this point. I am still reading my Dr. Phil book and I think I have some major food issues to deal with. I really want to be healthier and feel better about myself!! Help!!! Please!!!

One of the girls I work with has been trying a new diet for the past week or so. It is supposedly used by a local hospital to help overweight patients reduce their size quickly prior to surgery. You eat a certain combination of foods for three days, then you are "off" four days and can eat your normal diet. I think I will try it. It would not be too bad to be "good" for just three days a week. LOL What can it hurt anyway?

Baptist Hospital Weight Reducing Clinic

DAY ONE
Breakfast: 1/2 grapefruit or juice, 1 slice of toast, 1 TB of peanut butter, tea or coffee
Lunch: 1/2 cup tuna/broiled chicken, 1 slice toast with cheddar cheese, tea
Dinner: 2 slices of meat (3 oz) or small broiled steak, 1 cup string beans, 1 small apple, 1/2 cup of vanilla ice cream, tea

DAY TWO
Breakfast: 1 boiled egg, 1 slice toast, 1/2 banana, tea or coffee
Lunch: 5 saltine crackers, 1 cup cottage cheese or 1 cup tuna, tea
Dinner: 2 hotdogs (boiled or fried), 1 cup broccoli or cabbage, 1/2 cup carrots, 1/2 cup vanilla ice cream, tea

DAY THREE
Breakfast: 5 saltine crackers, 1 slice cheddar cheese, 1 small apple, tea or coffee
Lunch: 1 boiled egg, 1 slice of toast, tea
Dinner: 1 cup tuna/chicken/turkey, 1 cup beets or carrots, 1 cup cauliflower/greens or banana, 1/2 cup vanilla ice cream, 1/2 cantaloupe, tea

*Salt and pepper may be used, but no other seasoning
*You can loose up to 40 pounds in one month
*Do not vary or substitute any of the foods
*Do not eat between meals
*Drink all of the water you want
*Drink all of the unsweeteened tea or coffee you want
*Do not use sugar or salt substitute
*Diet drinks are permissable
*Stay on the diet continuously for 3 days, then eat normal for the other 4 days
*It works on a chemical breakdown and is a proven diet. You can loose 10 pounds in 3 days.

My co-worker lost 8 pounds the first week. :)

3:44 pm - try again tomorrow

anomalous_girl
Well, I have not been doing well on the whole diet thing. what a shocker!! We hadn't gone to the grovery store yet, so we went out to dinner and lunch yesterday. And then out again today after church... We usually don't eat out that much at all, so this wasn't normal. I ate naughty, didn't drink very much water, the whole deal. I guess I will get back on the wagon tomorrow. How did everyone else do?

10:23 pm - Calling all you lovely ladies!

anglbabysteph
We need to get this community up and running again, we need some ideas for topics for each week or something that would get everyone involved. The few things I had come up with is posting healthy recipes we had found, or ways to make our favorite recipes low fat, low carb, or whatever plan anyone is following. We could have a day where people post their exercise routines, or having the Pros/Cons lists on fridays like another group I belong to. What do you think would be beneficial? Come on ladies lets get this group up and running!

4:22 pm - Finally.. Success!

jwilhunt
Between December 2002 and July of 2003 I lost 70 pounds doing the Atkins plan. It was like the weight just melted off. Well, I gained most of that back. I have tried Dr. Phil, Weight Watchers and Thin Wihtin and I just decided that I needed to go back to low carb.

Well, I started it on Monday. I mean this Monday.. the 6th. I usually only weigh once a week and that is a strict rule I adhere to. Well, last night we had a fancy smancy dinner for work and they served carby-foods. I assumed that I had blown it for this week, but started LC again this morning. I jumped on the scales to see what the damage was and I had lost 4 pounds since Monday. Disclaimer: I know that it is water weight, but I will take it!

I might just get 50 pounds off before October!

8:48 pm - Product review...

iwerewolf

Er, sort of.  I just got out of the shower and thought to post this.  Ever wonder if those celulite reducing lotions work?  Jergans does.  I bought that either based off the reccemondation of a friend or decided to try it out based off the commericals (pretty sure this was the one my friend had told me about one night in IM).  I bought it in the hopes that it'd help me look good for my vaca 2 years ago.  Unfrotunatly I didn't buy it early enough nor was I extremly consistant with it.

Since then though I have continued to use it.  again not consistantly but enough to notice a difference.  It does help you to firm up and gets rid of the nasty look you have going (if you're like me and have big thighs, pretty much all fat).  I should actually measure my thighs (not that I care to know how big they are) and keep a running tab.  I also need to start being consistant about it.  That and I need to get back on the diet and actually work out!

At least I went out Saturday and walked around (outside) for a few hours.  :)  Better than nothing I suppose.

Sorry everyone. I was hoping I'd get the chance to post more but I just don't have the time. My diet is going nowhere right now. I'm eating very healthy and I'm not overeating but I started tracking my calories and excercise and I definately need to eat less :( and obviously excersice more! I just can't find the time. I love to excercise but with my full time job, long commute and the baby wow it's harder then I thought it would be. I'm going to try and stay posistive and eventually loose that extra weight! Stay strong everyone. Also I wanted to tell everyone about an AWESOME free website called sparkpeople.com that you can track your weightloss, excerise, fitness and all that. They give you a free profile, there are message boards, fitness experts, and all that. It's a nice tool and I can access that sight at work so I've been using that. They have short but informative articles on every topic related to weight loss and fitness and well I can't believe it's free. Good luck everyone!

4:41 pm - small contribution to me

whataworld
I havent been on the up and up as far as pro-actively trying to tone up and get back in shape but my one promise that i've made to myself is to eat a salad every day. no matter what other junk i pile on down, a salad as well.
i've kept it going for the past few days except about 2 days ago when russ came home with an in and out burger with fries and chocolate shake.... was too full the rest of the day to eat a salad... =P

12:47 pm - Hey Girls :)

anglbabysteph
I hope everyone is doing fantastic! Remember to celebrate any accomplishment big or small, and don't make yourself think you have failed if you fall off the wagon, just jump right back in and go screaming down the hill! hehe :) I must admit on Friday I had a piece of pizza, but I don't feel bad about it because it was a lot less then I would have normally eaten and if thats the worst thing I eat thats definitely a step in the right direction. Still doing the dance away the inches, I hope to get one of the walk away the pounds DVD's soon. I like the dance one because its a 15 minute express one, and when you have a baby thats kind of important to get something you can do fast, and if you have enough time you can always do it again, or even later again in the day. So if anyone wants a copy of it let me know and I can burn you one. Its not to terribly difficult but it can be silly and entertaining for little ones ;) hehe I keep wishing and hopeing for spring to get here so that the snow will melt and Trev and I can start on our mile walks that we used to be in the habit of doing on the track. I love to walk!

How is everyone else doing? who needs a big hug? who wants to eat a 1/2 gallon of rocky road ice cream? (I do, I do) *hands out fat free pudding instead ;)
